An Investment into Faith

For many young people in the Muslim community, the path often seems predetermined: excel at school, attend a top university, pursue a professional career, secure stable employment, and work hard for the rest of your life. Clearly, this conventional formula didn’t suit Br. Abdul Moneim. With an economics degree from Sac State, Abdul was well-positioned to find employment and pursue his career at one of the local top firms. However, his entrepreneurial spirit compelled him to look beyond traditional expectations.

Br. Abdul went on to found a trucking company that contracted with industry giants such as Fry’s Electronics and Walmart. As if that were not enough, Br. Abdul went ahead and got his commercial broker’s license, and founded a real estate company that now manages a fund of $200 million. Rising to prominence in the region, he has been featured by reputable media outlets such as the Sacramento Business Journal.1

But business success is not the reason Br. Abdul and his beautiful family are featured in this Tarbiya story. It's how he used this clout to serve and grow his community. Imam Azeez still recounts the story of how, in 2019, Br. Abdul—with whom he had a limited relationship—reached out over Facebook with a proposal to purchase a building that would become the home of Tarbiya House Roseville.

The ensuing events ultimately culminated in the acquisition of Tarbiya’s facility in Roseville. Br. Abdul brokered the deal, managed the negotiations, and oversaw the acquisition process. Since then, with the grace of Allah (SWT), the property has doubled in value.

But the story only gets better. Years later, Br. Abdul helped Tarbiya locate, negotiate, and acquire what is now the home of Tarbiya House Natomas, and the seed of Tarbiya’s endowment. Additionally, Br. Abdul Moneim continues to provide business advice to Tarbiya, mentor the youth, and provide opportunities for sound investing. He employs aspiring young Muslims who aim to break stereotypes and pursue business-oriented careers instead of traditional professional paths.

Br. Abdul’s passion is to transform our Muslim community by spreading the spirit of entrepreneurship, increasing financial literacy, and driving cultural and political impact.

He resides in Roseville with his wife Erum, their son Yunus, and his parents.
