This past weekend, Tarbiya Institute held part 2 of the Family & Youth Institute's Mentoring Muslim Youth Workshop. Dr. Sameera Ahmed covered basic counseling skills to help connect and advise the youth in our communities. Participants learned engagement skills, practiced the nonverbal and verbal communication principles in break-out sessions, and received hands-on practical training. Dr. Sameera Ahmed

Sameera Ahmed holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, has a private clinical practice in Canton, MI, and has taught classes at a variety of universities across the nation. She is known for her contributions in promoting Muslim mental health through the publication of Counseling Muslims: Handbook of Mental Health Issues and Interventions, the most cited, internationally known academic book on Muslim Mental health.
