Manners on Days of Defeat and Poverty

From a small group of believers in Mecca, Islam has grown into the most diverse faith on the face of the Earth. Despite this massive scale, our ummah continues to bleed across the globe as oppression is rampant, but we maintain hope as our beloved Prophet taught us. In the early days of Islam, the Muslims suffered much oppression and adversity. What was the adaab of the Muslims who faced such adversity? How did the Prophet PBUH respond to situations that were not in the favor of the ummah?
