The Sunnah of Taking Women Seriously

March is officially designated as Women’s History Month and some of the greatest women in history are the women of Islam, such as Khadija (r). When Rasulullah (saw) returned from his first encounter with angel Jibreel, he asked to be covered, but what he was in most need of at that moment was sincere and trustworthy advice. He received that advice from our mother Khadija (r). Whenever we are in a critical moment in our lives we want to know that the people who are around us, working with us and advising us are the best and most reliable. So what does it mean to us that many of those in that the Messenger trusted, peace and blessings be upon him, were women?
