Br. Ron

It was exactly 8 years ago when he showed up with his wife at the SALAM Islamic Center to take his shahadah. Br. Ron was the quintessential All-American biker, with the leather jacket, the sunglasses and the intense look. But only 5 minutes into the conversation, it became abundantly clear that he was filled with love, humility and the genuine desire to connect with God.

Br. Ron’s wife, sister Rasiyha, is from Kyrgyzstan. She was born Muslim but never practiced seriously until she married Ron.

As our team transitioned to the Tarbiya Institute, Ron and Rasiyah continued to be involved. For years, Br. Ron has been coming to THR and THN regularly, to pray Jumaa, mingle with the bothers, but to also serve God by serving his people. On a near daily basis, Br. Ron volunteered his time and skills to maintain our facilities, do construction work, and achieve day to day tasks. Always greeted people with a smile, and always maintained the most loving and hopeful attitude.

We pray every day from Br. Ron as he struggles with his health issues, and ask Allah (swt) to bring him back to his family, and his beloved community, in perfect health very soon, ya Rabb!
