When Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib, May Allah be pleased with him, was martyred during the battle of Uhud, it is reported that Rasulullah (saw) was more grieved than people had ever seen before.

Most of us read such details in the Seerah but never truly understand what’s behind them. Others may have only heard the name, but know very little about this great companion. He was known as Asad-ullah, the lion of Allah, and we love to name our sons after him. Today we examine the life that he lived and what it teaches about masculinity in Islam.
