Sr. Sumayya Jawadi

Allah (SWT) says ~ مِّنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا۟ مَا عَـٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ
“Among the believers are true men and women of valor, who are true to the oath they took before God”

The ayah highlights people that display the Godly character of honor, chivalry, devotion and commitment. People like our dear sister Sumayya Jawadi. Since her beautiful family joined the Tarbiya Community, she’s always shined with her loving smile and commitment to the work of Allah (SWT). Most recently that commitment has come in the form of Sunday School Coordinator at the Tarbiya House Roseville.

A mother of three delightful children, Dr. Sumayya is a full time Physician with a speciality in Radiology for the UC Davis Medical Center - she serves as a Director within her Division, performs clinical work, supervises, teaches and assists in training new physicians. Aside from her  Sunday School duties, she also serves as an Assistant Chaplain with Tarbiya Chaplaincy.

Dr. Sumayya truly demonstrates the qualities of a role-model Muslim woman that inspires both men and women.

One Sunday, when she received a call that her Division was short a staff member and she needed to cover for them, her commitment was put to the test. Anyone in her situation might have called out of Sunday School duties for the day and expected another person to fill in. Sr. Sumayya isn’t just anyone. Instead, she came in early and setup her 4 monitor workstation in one of the available offices and met the duties of her work as well as her commitment to the Islamic education of the communities children.

As we celebrate the Himmah of our community in the year of Resilience, the Tarbiya Institute is honored to name sister Sumayya the “Resilient of the month” for January!

May Allah (SWT) continue to shower her with his endless blessings, and keep her and her family healthy, in body, mind and heart. Please take a moment and make du’aa for your resilient sister. May Allah (swt) bless our community with Himmah to practice His Deen and do His work.
