Should we pray for Rizq or Barakah?
Sometimes we raise our hands in supplication and we ask for more, but we aren’t seeking excess.
Sometimes we pray for sustenance and provisions because we feel that we are short. Sometimes we pray for children and family because we feel alone. Sometimes we pray for skills and abilities because we fall short. We pray for rizq, but is that really what we need? Is that what Rasulullah (saw) used to pray for, or is there some other more appropriate request? After all, it is Allah who decides our rizq, so perhaps what we are missing is barakah.
