We welcomed approximately 200 attendees at A Night of Ilm, a Seminary Open House this past Friday night at Tarbiya House Roseville. Our community heard an inspirational talk from Imam Sherif Azeez, Dean of the Tarbiya Seminary, and our honored guest speaker Shaykh Furhan Zubairi, Dean of the Institute of Knowledge Seminary on the benefits of Ilm and the path to knowledge.

Islam is a constant hijrah to knowledge, requiring physical effort and an intent to seek out the truth that has been provided to us by Allah swt. Preparation and planning are required to identify its whereabouts and what resources one might need in order to reach and acquire that knowledge.  Our premier example is the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ migration from Mecca to Medina.  The journey took planning and physical effort while he led the ummah spiritually and intellectually to seek the truth. All seekers of knowledge must adapt to various cultures and unique ways of thinking as they understand foreign truths and seek guidance. The hijrah to knowledge means avoiding complacency and exerting effort to seek information that will benefit both the individual and generations to come. This is the Muharram, a migration from ignorance to knowledge, for any Seminary student of knowledge.
